What is sentence case?

Sentence case means writing text like normal sentences.

The first letter of each sentence is capital, and the rest of the words are lowercase. Proper nouns (names, places, etc.) stay capitalized.

Examples:

this is a simple sentence.
This is a simple sentence.

this is written in chicago by julie.
This is written in Chicago by Julie. (Proper nouns stay capitalized "Chicago" and "Julie")

Note: This tool does not automatically detect proper nouns. You need to enter the words you want to keep capitalized (like names or places) in the options box.

Where is sentence case used?

Sentence case is used in normal writing where sentences need to look natural and easy to read.

It is the most common writing style used in everyday text.

Sentence Case vs Title Case

Sentence case and title case are both text capitalization styles, but they are used differently.

In sentence case, only the first letter of each sentence is capitalized while the remaining words stay lowercase unless they are proper nouns.

Sentence Case Example:
The weather was pleasant during our trip to California.

In title case, the first letter of most words is capitalized. It is commonly used for headings and titles.

Title Case Example:
Top Places To Visit During a Trip to California

Sentence case is mostly used in paragraphs, articles, emails, and normal writing, while title case is commonly used in headings, titles, and page names.
